August is a celebration of women and what better way than to honour our women in business. At least half (if not more) of estate agents in South Africa are women. RE/MAX Southern Africa comprises of approximately 60% women. The management and administration team at RE/MAX Masters is 83% women across the 4 branches.
What is even more impressive than these statistics, is that RE/MAX SA is 45% owned by a black empowerment company headed up by 2 women. And the list doesn't end there. Not only is most of the industry made up of women, but these women are successful too.
The top 10 individuals based on registered commissions year to date is 50% women and for July, the figure was 80% women for RE/MAX nationally. That figure is 60% for the RE/MAX Masters group.
According to recent statistics provided by Lightstone, women have bought more properties than men in every quarter from the 1st quarter in 2019 up to an including the 2nd quarter in 2021. This either by themselves or in partnership with men. While men are still involved in 47% of property transactions, the volume of female transactions surpassed male transactions in 2009. The gap has increased since then and accelerated in the last two years.
